Mar 13, 2010 Suzanne Swartz
Improve Spanish-speaking ability, learn a new skill or develop an old one, and have a fantastic credential to add to a resume. Spain is a great place to start looking for this sort of opportunity. Consider finding an internship in Madrid, Spain!
Why Intern in Madrid?
Madrid, Spain's vibrant capital city, is home to over 3.2 million people, a rich history and culture, and beautiful architecture. It's also the location of several prominent companies great for students interested in gaining work experience.
In addition to the variety of businesses, there are also government offices, museums, art galleries, and universities (for a grand total of over 100,000 students!) that contribute to Madrid's overall environment as a student-friendly (and intern-friendly) city.
The EuroInterns Program in Madrid
This three to six month intern program is an excellent way for students to gain professional experience. Eurointerns offers placement with NGOs, companies, and other organizations that fit students' interests. From teaching assistant to legal intern to marketing intern, placement options span a wide variety of fields.
Students have the option to take a Spanish language course if they do not yet feel at ease with their Spanish language ability. Basic health insurance and housing placement are provided. Another plus of this program is the thorough guidance offered, including a comprehensive Madrid city guide packet.
CulturalEmbrace's Program in Madrid
Madrid is just one of the many cities in Spain where students and recent graduates participating in a CulturalEmbrace internship program can go. After completion of a Spanish language course, the program places participants in an eight-week internship program compatible with their interests.
Though the program comes with a price tag of several thousand dollars (like many international internship programs do), the CulturalEmbrace program includes four weeks of Spanish language instruction, basic health coverage, and housing. Most internships are unpaid.
