Terms and Conditions

Terms

In consideration of Eurointerns, by accepting a work experience placement, you

A. promise that all information given in the application is accurate and complete.

B. agree:

  1. to abide by all appropriate regulations and laws of the host country.
  2. to carry out your duties as an intern to the best of your ability.
  3. to pay your way, to and from your home country.
  4. to stay as long as you have indicated on your application.
  5. to indemnify Eurointerns and their staff against any loss or damage suffered by any of them or any claims made against them as a result of any breach or negligence by me during my participation in the program.
  6. a placement cannot be refused because of the location of the company. Many people in large towns travel for an hour or more to get to work and you should be prepared to do this.
  7. to behave during the work placement as though you were an employee. You should learn by being with others in the workplace and you should not expect your company to give you a training programme.
  8. to fully and forever release Eurointerns and its officers, directors, managers, members and employees, and agree not to seek compensation from any of them, for any losses that you may suffer during your internship or during travel to it or from.
C. understand:
  1. the exact work you will do depends on your level of education and qualifications, your experience and skills, and your second language level.
  2. job specifications and workloads vary, but you can expect to have your own responsibilities and perhaps your own project.
  3. all placements will have some routine activity such as data entry or answering the telephone.
  4. there is no salary because the objectives of the program are educational and offer a chance to gain professional experience. Many host companies pay for daily travel and/or lunch expenses, but this is not guaranteed.
  5. one should not make any demands or discuss any type of reimbursement during the interview, nor should one ask for time off, unless the person who is interviewing you mentions it first.
  6. that international travel involves risk, including the possibility of illness, adverse weather conditions, travel delays, strikes and other work stoppages, hostile actions by governments or individuals, and other risks and inconveniences.
  7. you can request a specific company and we will try to accommodate you, but you cannot specify the size of the company you will work for.
  8. you must specify three different sectors of choice. Applicants cannot refuse a placement which clearly falls into one of these areas.
  9. we reserve the right to cancel or change your work placements if your language level does not reach the expected level.
  10. we reserve the right to cancel your internship in the case of unjustified absences from the work place.
  11. that total fees due are payable within 7 days of placement confirmation and before the start of the internship. Payment after arrival is subject to a 50 USD surcharge.
  12. non-payment of total or partial fees is cause of expulsion from the internship.

Cancellations and Refunds
  • An initial deposit of 300 Euros is required before Eurointerns engages in the placement process.

  • The deposit is non-refundable except in the case that we cannot find you an internship in one of your specified areas. In this case, 80% of deposit paid is refundable to the student if cancellation is made in writing at least 60 days prior to internship start date and before confirmation.

  • 20% of deposit is refundable if cancellation is made within 44 days of internship start date and before confirmation.

  • No refund is given at any time after confirmation of the internship before its start.

  • No refund is given after the start of internship except in the case of host company negligence.

  • The student may ask to be placed with another organisation if the host company is professionally negligent in terms of misconduct and improper behaviour. The request can only be made within the first week of the assignment or at no later than 20% of the duration of the assignment, whichever one comes first.

  • In the case of the student requesting another placement due to the above-mentioned reason(s), Eurointerns will provide the student with an alternative.

  • Refusal by the student to attend interviews will not constitute reasonable grounds for a refund.

  • Refusal by a student to accept an internship for reasons not specified on their application or during the interview will not constitute reasonable grounds for rejecting an internship offer. This will therefore constitute a cancellation by the student.

  • In the event the student refuses an internship offer due to an error by Eurointerns in matching the student with an adequate internship as per their initial requests, Eurointerns shall continue to search for a suitable placement for the student, however some delay in fulfilling the placement within the student’s initial time frame may be experienced.

  • A student will be granted a full refund if Eurointerns is unable to place the student or to provide an alternative to the student in the above-mentioned event.

Hours and Duties
  • Most internships are 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.

  • If the company needs more than 20 hours a week Eurointerns will try to negotiate a small compensation in the form of a scholarship or grant.

  • The host company ultimately decides the schedule, job description and the general environment of the office.

  • Experience and communicative ability in the language of the host country will obviously determine the type of responsibility you are allocated.

  • You must work the hours agreed with your host company.

Punctuality & attendance
  • Any required absence must be agreed to by the host company in advance.

  • Any absence due to sickness must be reported to your host company immediately.

  • Unjustified absence can be the cause of dismissal without replacement of the internship.

  • Eurointerns will check with the host company and the student on the progress of the work experience on a fortnightly basis.

Dress Code
  • The student must conform to the dress code of the company.

  • Business casual dress should be worn to interviews.

  • No sneakers, blue jeans, shorts, t-shirts or provocative clothing please.

Confidentiality
  • You must keep all information and documents entrusted to you confidential.

Misuse of company facilities and property
  • Any misuse of company facilities or property is not allowed and the student shall be liable for any expenses incurred as a result of such misuse.

  • We reserve the right to cancel your internship in the case of misuse of company facilities or property.

Conduct
  • Students should carry out all assigned tasks with enthusiasm and professionalism to the best of their ability.

  • You should avoid making inappropriate comments regarding the company's work environment, ethics or others.

Problems
  • Problems should be at first instance discussed with the program coordinator at the company.

  • If the problem is not resolved, Eurointerns will make every effort possible to mediate the problem with the coordinator.

Certificate of completion
  • Students will receive a certificate of completion by the company upon completion of the assignment.

  • A certificate of completion will be issued by Eurointerns in the event of the company being unable to furnish the student with a certificate.

Liability
  • Eurointerns is in no way responsible for any damages caused by the student during the work experience program, where the damages may be of any nature.
  • The student accepts all responsibility personally and understands that in no way they are to be regarded as employees of Eurointerns or their host company.
